Hi all
It is my first post and hopefully not the last as I am having fun renovating few rooms in the unit.
I have gutted my kitchen and it is solid brick wall much of the old ceramic tiles have been stuck on a thin layer of adhesive and the wall rendered nicely and squarely.
Now the tiles came off easily but there is quite a bit of residual adhesive showing as streaky things on the wall. I like to preserve this render part because if I break it I'll get to electrical wires thing that I not keen in touching.
Now my question is what would be the best method and or tools to smoothing the existing backing wall to get rid of the streaks and should I score the wall to allow for better grip of the new tiles?
hi taylor if adhesive is solid and cement based you could tile strait over or a sharp wide chisel and hammer works well or if you dont mind a mess you could grind it off use goggles and gloves with both ways of removal (grinding will make a lot of dust so you will need a mask) hope this helps
Oh thanks Jay this is great I was hoping a favourable response I thought of cleaning with the wide balde of a hammer drill and then grinding or rather scoring it to allow for better grip of the new tiles but did not know who to talk to.
Thanks your response goes a log way
