Im going to re-tile my bathroom ( well a professional is anyway) and i need a bit of advice regarding my tiles. The floor tiles i have are 316x316 and the wall tiles are 316x450. I have a ceiling of 9 foot and wanted to tile just below the door frame but if i tile vertically, i would need to cut one of the wall tiles in 1/2 so would tiling horizontally be better? What would you suggest? Also how successful is it to take off a soap/shelf and foot rest without breaking them? I want to reuse them if i can but if it is a HUGE chance they will break, i will have to reorder some before starting.
Thanks
Louise

Personally I think vertically is more pleasing to the eye, you have two options really, the half tile cut at the bottom or start full at the bottom & have a half tile cut above your door.Of course it could depend on whether or not a bath is in the room & other considerations not known until seen. If you have paid for a good enough tiler he should know how to set the room out to be aesthetically pleasing and discuss all options with you before starting.
I think you would be a very lucky lady to get the soap dish etc off in one piece...it all depends on how well they were fixed in the first place.
