    I have just returned from the uk after 5 years and they do NOT use sand and cement for there floors at all.
    They all use adhesives for there floor and walls, which i think is better than the old sand and cement method.
    Not looking forward in hitting up my 1st sand and cement floor!!! Its alot more hard work here in OZ.

    Man I love tiling over screed or rendered walls (my own that is) it's just soooooo flat. I hear what you're saying about the hard work though

    in syd we still do our own screeds as well as sometimes we do our own render

    @ PMtiling.. I think that using adhesives to build up your floors are such a waste of not just time, but also money.. especially if you get a bit of a dodgy floor.. sand and cement might be harder work but in the long run, its much more cost effective (and a little bit of hard work never hurt anyone!):P
