Re: tile cutters Rubi for small format tiles, I have a ts40, Sigma for larger format tiles & when cutting on angles. The only thing I don't like about the sigma is the awkwardness of handling and workspace it takes up and the fact it loves to make holes in my bags of glue in the back of the ute if not careful with placement. Good machines both & will last for years if looked after properly.

Re: tile cutters I use a sigma art3A it can cut angles in both + and - 45 degree angles.
Only problem is I recently bought a second one and it's out of square..I've no way of fixing it as the grooves r already set for different angles. Does n e one how to re/square a sigma cutter?

Re: tile cutters I use a RUBI 93TI , I like the Rubi (German) more than the sigma (Italian), because it has teflon guides and feet, the guides slide easier, I always found the Sigma got real sticky bringing the breaker back. And the Feet dont mark the tile, sometimes the aluminium on the sigma can mark the tile. But both machines are really good. These are the best brands as far as I know. Sigma is easier to get spares for though because they were more popular in Australia than RUBI

Re: tile cutters
I was wondering what those Rubi's were like to use, I hadn't seen one till recently, parts for Rubi aren't a problem to get up here, at least for the model I have anyway. I thought Rubi's were actually Spanish in origin? Is that model very expensive, I think my Sigma might have to be replaced soon.... I have just been holding out till I win the lotto & can give the game away hahahaha. Plus the apprentice has a fairly new one to!

Re: tile cutters
Attached a pic URL of the TI-75 same thing really.
No wasn't any more than a Sigma, the TI series is based on sigmas actually, "Pull Versions" - You could be right about spanish, I think it may be a German company and made in spain? sorry someone correct me if hey know for sure.
The one I have I got as a Special Deal with TilersOnline, they were $500 -$600 I think, actually cheaper than the sigma.
The other thing I like about this one is its got a Quick release to change the Tile stop to 45 Deg and 30 Deg Etc. It is just a pull up and turn, you have to see it, its quicker to change than the sigmas and can be disassembled easier too.
Big fan of the Rubi TI SeriesLast edited by TimTheTiler; 29-01-2011 at 02:50 PM.

Re: tile cutters On the measure guide you move to 45 ect there is an adjustment screw with locking nut on the older models. Think this might be what Jay is referring to. Various sigmas for myself. Bought the apprentice a raimondi but it isn't a patch on the sigma. I also still have the original schmidt cutter I started my apprenticeship with 30 years ago.

Re: tile cutters I use the Sigma's exclusively now but when i started i used the Montolit machines. They were good machines but difficult to see the cutting wheel. They used a reverse pattern to the Sigma as well.
