Up until yesterday I was not even aware of this phenomonem . Anyone ever experience it? Seems to be a common issue with the Chinese porcelain.

Just laid 80m2 of the stuff and after grouting and cleaning the hazing is quite apparent under the right light conditions. Owners are not happy with the outcome and whilst I will still be paid they are talking of removing them and replacing with an unpolished tile. We are hoping that the manufacturer and the tile seller will jump on board and sort something out for these people. Breaks my heart to have put the effort in only to find that within a few days I may be doing it again.

Know what you mean had one i tiled in winter no probs but when the sun finally reached it what a mess customer is talking the same and there's ufh to boot have a bo peep at these

This one we are all gona keep an eye out for and the only way to tell (as far as i know) is to de wax one or more tiles then place them on the floor in full sunlight and stand back and have a good look,because when you lay it due to wax and light conditions it is not always viable ,but when cleaned and the natural light comes around on it it is as supreme tiling says heart breaking,and really the tile shops can and will leave you hanging with it due to that clause written on most tile boxes ,no refunds once tile is fixed ,

Hi Supreme Tiling we had the same issue about 8 years ago. The cheaper porcelain from China were and obviously still seem to be putting a wax coating on polished porcelain to help protect in transportation and possibly to help seal. We removed the wax using a product from Tasman Chemicals I think it helped soften the wax, we then used a buffing machine with a white pad to remove the wax being sure to always keep the tiles wet. After this we buffed the tiles using a lambs wool pad. Tiles came up perfect. Very important though to always keep tiles wet so as to not scratch or possibly burn.

What a shame supreme. That would give you the you know whats. What country were the tiles made and were they the cheap?

I've been paid for the job Jay so there is no worries in that department,however I felt really sorry for the people I did the job for as he was as unaware of the problem as I was. They were really nice people and understood that it was in no way my fault . Had I known that this problem existed I would have talked them out of it.

The tile shop that supplied the tile is one I do a lot of business with and we are attempting to have them come on board and accept some of the responsibility ,along with the manufacturer. These shops obviously know that the problem exists so the onus should be on them to advise their clients of the potential pitfalls associated with the use of these tiles.

The bottom line is that the owners are keen to remove the entire 80m2 and have me re-lay another tile which will be a conventional ceramic . It'll break my heart to see a weeks worth of work being ripped up. Live and learn I guess.

Might be worth your time to read the some of the links i posted its not wax and it cant be removed its in the tile
