Default Best adhesive for painted surface

    Hey Guys,

I'm about to start tiling my Kitchen wall, about 75% of the wall is painted fibro, it's painted in a very high gloss paint. I wanted to ask if tile adhesive will stick well to this surface, I'd rather not sand it as it's old fibro which contains asbestos.

The other section of wall is new, bare fibrous cement sheeting, will I need to seal this with something or can I just use tile adhesive straight onto the bare surface.

The tiles are square edged and someone told me I could butt them together and have no gap between them, is this correct, what about grouting when tiles are so close together.

One last question, the tiles are quite large, 300mm x 600mm and therefore quite heavy. I'm not sure what sized trowel I should use for these tiles, I have one with 6mm teeth, is this the right size for these tiles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Matt
