The black grout question... Hello. I need some help. I'm thinking of using black grout in my new kitchen splashback with white ceramic subway style tiles in a brick formation. What do you think? Is black grout harder to work with than white? Will imperfections in tile placement be THAT more noticable? (I've heard that as a reason not to do it). I've also been thinking about the actual tiling process and I've been worried that any black grout that is accidently dropped onto the white ceasar stone bench tops might be hard to remove...????

Here's an image... but I'm thinking of using a different size tile, a bit like this next one...

...but with a white bench top.
Is there anyone out there who feels I should be talked out of this? Anyone to encourage me to go ahead...? I'm not tiling this myself, I'll get a pro to do it.
Thankyou!

Re: The black grout question... It's horrible stuff to use but if thats what you really like go for it, a tiler won't be to enthused by it but it's very doable. Personally if you really don't want white I'd look at a shade of grey instead. For me, black would be too stark a contrast.

Re: The black grout question... Make sure your white tiles are of an excellent quality, some of the smaller rectangle tiles i've laid recently have been different sizes or very bowed, and the black grout will show up all of this. As Notch said, it is doable though

Re: The black grout question... if your going black grout to stop the grout looking dirty recommend you use an epoxy grout what ever color you like as most epoxy grouts are stain proof .as far as black grout in the tiles in the pics not my cup of tea
