If you read his flyer, he says Labour only, materials extra. So he's potentially from $28.00/m2

Yes Frank I noticed that......still bloody ridiculous! 600 x 600 porcelain at $28/sq.m.! Thats a less than half of what it should be. I was charging $28/sq.m. for small format ceramics 15 years ago.... don't you think the price of.....well.... everything has moved on a bit since then? Could your business survive on those prices? You would be better off on wages somewhere.

Not that any of us have a right to tell anyone how much to charge, but now I agree. You are nuts!! If you can do 100 m2 of 600 x 600 porcelain on your own in 4 days including grouting and cleanup, I take my hat of to you, but I doubt it's going to be "Flawless"......... Most of the tilers I know would work on 10 m2 of 600 x 600 porcelain per man per day to do it properly given that you're supposed to use a 12mm notched trowel on the floor and then back butter each tile.

I tell you what, if you're really that good, move up to Brisbane, I'll give you all my porcelain jobs, I'll pay for all the materials and I'll even pay you $28.00/m2.

No my business certainly couldn't survive on that even with normal ceramics. But then I'm not a one man band. At absolute best, my cost for 600 x 600 porcelain is going to be $ 45 - $50.00/m2, when I consider materials, labour, work cover, super, insurances and so on, probably a little more even. That's only if the floors are perfect, there's no holdups etc. and I'm yet to pay for my office, fuel, computers, website, accountants, legal fees the list goes on. I'd like a little to be left over for myself, seeing as I've got to hold the warranty.

Thats what I thought Frank. Agree 100%. It'd be hard to run a business as a one man band at those prices.

It's blokes with attitudes like Flawless that are screwing this industry.

I don't know about the rest of you guys ....... but I also think it's pretty poor form by Flawless to use this forum for free advertising without actually contributing anything.
