hello all. my name is jamie cooke. from london england. moving to sydney in janury. have been tiling with my partner, louis for about 5 years. we both movin along with few others. I have few questions if anyone would be kind enought to reply.
firstly what the pay was for experienced tilers, per day or per square meter. secondly how easy/hard will be to find work. is there much work for tilers over in sydney, espically in the coogee/bondi region.
I'm not familar with how work is in the Sydney region so I can't really comment on that.
In Brisbane where I'm based it seems to be buisness as usual and I'm regularly taking home $500 a day as far as m2 rates are concerned I start at $45/m2 and go up from there, but I will only quoate m2 rates if I get 100m2 or more.
cheers for your help. from what you say and other tilers the pay seems to be fairly similar. we start chargin at £20 a m2 so almost identical. we all packed up now just waiting for january! another question if you dont mind. me and partner in debate about tools. im sayin its worth paying to have ours flown over while he thinks buy new tools while in sydney. in egland there are a lot of shops supplying tools for tiling is that the same over there?
good question ! im hoping to emigrate to OZ as well and would also be interested in the answer to the tools question, although i have heard that sigma cutters are common in OZ which is great news for me as i use nothing else.
Yep spot on there Keeza, 15 mm a must, also makes it easier to slide clips under. I think where most blokes get into trouble is they think that because they are using a levelling system they can take...
That is my main concern with this type of fixing system - drumminess.
Sounds like there are some golden rules:
1) Substrate needs to be near to straight as can be, grinding or filling may be...
