Hi, my name is Mike,
I am a ceramic wall and floor tiler here in the uk at the moment (24 years experience). We are in the process of moving to the Joondalup area in Perth. We have permanent residency, I will be flying out in February - just making enquiries as to work situation over in Oz as at moment with the current economic climate here in uk - I am at a virtual standstill as is a lot of building trades - has this affected you?/ Is there much demand for tilers? Do tilers work cards in through builders or self employed, would it be better to advertise and get 'private' work. Would like to hear from other tilers with any info/contacts, any info appreciated. Many thanks.
Regards, Mike
Hello Mike.
Oh how envious of you I am. Visa granted and 24 years in the trade!! I too am planning to move to a perth suburb. which one we are far from making our mind up. I'm not yet a tiler but am starting a course Monday. feel free to read my introduction on here.
I hope you find any info your looking for. I too am keen to see what how tiling works in oz.
As for Mick coming along soon Dave, he hasn't been on here or uk site for quite some time bud. Hope he's o.k.
Uploading photos to the forums takes up a heap of server space and bandwidth to view. Best way to do it is to upload your photos to a photo hosting site like photobucket or imageshack and then post...
I have pm Dan to see if the accounts can be increased but no word yet ,Dont know if Dave can do it or not i will drop him a pm
Have pm Dave just give it a bit of time it will happen
I have never thought of it that way , ie: using the same brand adhesive as the membrane for liability reasons. As much as I do know my stuff legally, I agree it is ideal to avoid liability battles....
